My Son

My Son,
God has used you to force me to deal with many things and revealed many truths through your sickness. I am not a poet or great writer these are words that God layed on my heart for all to read:

This is so hard...How did God give up His Son for me?

I have never hated sin as much as I do today...sin is why you are sick my dear son. We live in a fallen sinful world. God have mercy on us!

Ethan I have seen you fighting for your life. You are beautiful my son and tough and I realize that God loves you more than we do. That is why I know God hurts like we do right now. He hurts for you Ethan and for every other single person in the world. That is an unimaginable crushing burden to bare, yet God takes it on.

I have had to deal with my own sin. I have never really understood how to put more trust in God. I have taught sunday school lesson over the past few years on trials and I have never really understood why and how God uses them until now. I almost complained about all the lessons with the same subject matter..."trust God all the time through the good and bad times", why did God keep make me teach the same lesson? Now I know. I am coming face to face with a God that is telling me that I am not in control...He is! It is killing me to learn this and it is making me stronger. Stronger because I have never really understood God's sacrifice even though I have talked about it and shared it with others, it has never been as understood as it is today. You see son you are God's little helper.

I have seen your mother be as strong as ever. I was worried about her and her emotions and I didn't trust God to give her strength I felt like I needed to give strength to her. I thought I was the only one with strength. Today your beautiful mother held my head in her lap while I cried. She quoted scriptures and reassured me. She is a spiritual anchor with strength from God because she love Him and you. I will never underestimate or question her faith again. I Love You Son,Daddy

  1. I have read this and cried, it has touched my heart. If we all would look at sin and our Father's love for us in this manner, oh what a better place this would be. The Father sees all of your tears and hears your hearts cry, it is not in vain. May God continue to give you both strengh and courage through this difficult time. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Think upon Isaiah 40:31 and know that this too shall pass and Ethan will be home with you healthy soon. I love you Bonnie,

  2. Kerry,

I am so deeply moved by this...what wonderful perspective God has granted you and Bonnie. It is truly amazing that you can see farther from the valley than you can the mountain top. I love you both and I am praying for you all.

  3. Kerry I appreciate the fact you are willing to be so bold in your faith. As a fellow man and Christian I know just how hard it can be to stand up for what we believe and in turn for you to pour your heart out to the public is amazing. No matter the outcome God has used little Ethan and you and Bonnie more than I think even you guys realize.

  4. Kerry and Bonnie,

I just want you to know that John and I are praying for your family. Kerry, I sat in your Sunday School class almost every Sunday for a year and you are such a great man of God and a wonderful teacher. And I have to say that this sweet letter you have written to your son is the best lesson you have ever given. It has just really touched me to my heart. Bonnie, you are beautiful and so faithful and I admire you so much. God's love really shines through you and touches so many people. I am praying fervently that God will heal your son and that you will all be home soon. It is very evident that little Ethan has made such a big impact on so many people and I know God has a very special plan for him.

    With love and Blessings,
    Chantell

  6. Kerry and Bonnie,

Your words Kerry have touched my heart very deeply having two sons of my own. It really puts things in perspective and makes you realize that there truly is only one person in control and he can handle anything we lay at his feet.

I just want you both know that the Canady family has been praying for Ethan and your family since we heard about it on Friday morning. Our God is a BIG GOD and I know he has a plan and reason for what is going on with Ethan. In this world today it is very rare to see two faithful Christian parents like yourselves and I know God would not let Ethan miss out on this opportunity to be brought up in a home where God is the focus of the family. Know that there are many prayers going up for your family and that our GOD is in control.

    God Bless,

Jason, Jennifer, Braxton, & Brooks Canady

  8. A friend posted a link to your blog on her Facebook page today. I am so thankful to be able to join in corporate prayer with so many warriors for your precious family and sweet baby Ethan. You are being lifted up to our merciful Father in heaven over and over and over again as this blog reaches the ends of the earth and I am SO THANKFUL that He hears every one of our prayers for you. We love you and just as we weep with you now, we will also rejoice with you as He brings healing to Ethan.

*Thank you Jesus for this family and for the work you are doing in their lives even now.*
